Outpatient Orthopedic Surgeries

Dr. Matthew Ritter, DVM, DACVS-SA

Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon

OUTPATIENT
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERIES

We are excited to offer advanced orthopedic surgeries with Dr. Matt Ritter, a board-certified veterinary surgeon. At Main Street, we collaborate closely with Dr. Ritter to provide specialized orthopedic surgical care for pets, offering treatments typically found at specialty hospitals. Dr. Ritter is passionate about surgery and is dedicated to educating pet owners about their pets' conditions, empowering them to make informed decisions in their care. He has extensive experience performing a variety of surgical procedures, including TPLO and other knee surgeries, fracture repairs, as well as complex soft tissue surgeries. Dr. Ritter has successfully performed over 3500 TPLO surgeries.

How It Works:

  • Scheduling: Once your veterinarian recommends the surgical procedure, and an estimate is reviewed, they will reach out to Dr. Ritter to schedule the next available date and time. After that, one of our team members will contact you to finalize the appointment. We will send both text and phone reminders the day before the procedure to ensure you are fully prepared.

  • Day Of Surgery: On the scheduled day and time, your pet will arrive at Main Street, where they will be greeted by our caring team of veterinarians and support staff, ensuring a familiar and comfortable environment for both you and your pet. To prepare for the surgery, your pet will need to be fasted for at least 12 hours prior to reduce the risk of complications during the procedure. Consent forms and estimates will be completed with your veterinarian, and we will address any questions you may have prior to the procedure. Dr. Ritter will then arrive and perform the surgical procedure with the utmost care and expertise

  • Post-Op Care: Once Dr. Ritter has completed the procedure on your pet, he will personally call you to discuss how the surgery went, any additional findings while your pet was under anesthesia, and provide detailed post-operative care instructions. Your pet will be closely monitored for several hours, and one of our team members will contact you when they are ready for pickup. At that time, a technician or assistant will review more specific post-operative care instructions, including medications for home care. Our team will follow up the next day to check on your pet's recovery and will remain available to answer any questions you may have.
